This band, made up of only two members, are from Sydney Australia. The band dropped their first EP in June of 2007 and reached number 11 of the inthemix 50 poll of Austrailia’s top DJs in 2009.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: ROBYN

Robyn was born Robin Miriam Carlsson on June 12th 1979. She was born in Sweden and became very well known in the late 90s there for her amazing singing and song writing ability. She is becoming more well known internationally and has an amazing talent for writing electro-dance/pop. She won a Swedish Grammis award in 2009 for the Best Live Act of 2008.

It’s great to be home. I know I haven’t posted anything since summer but let’s  give a round of applause for Emily’s hard work. The sound cloud posts are awesome!! I hope you all were able to download all of your favorites. I know I did!! This week starts WMSR’s UNLEASHED WEEK!!! That’s when all the radio shows start back up on Miami University’s Campus! You know what that means, right? Yup! Cuz We’re Like Adventurers will be broadcasting for the first time this year on Sunday Night.  That’s this Sunday Night at 8pm. We’re really excited about that and have planned to go with a party theme (dance music, etc) to celebrate our first night.

On to other matters: As we continue to fill you guys in on concerts, tours, new artist, and good clean fun we will also continue to work on artist spotlights.

Artist Spotlight of this week is: Hoodie Allen

Hoodie Allen is a New York based rapper.  He uses indie artists such as Marina & Diamond, VV Brown and Two Door Cinema Club song samples and incorporates it into his lyrics. His first hit song on hypem was ” You Are Not A Robot” which features Marina & the Diamonds.

Allen has crazy cool free sounds that are easily downloadable right from his facebook page. “You Are Not A Robot”ft Marina and the Diamonds, “Words of Wisdom”, and “Making Waves” are all on the facebook page. His “Bagels and Beats EP is on there as well.  Allen’s new album “Pep Rally” Is also available for download right on his page—FOR FREE!!

Channel 42

So I watched the VMA’s for the first time ever, and I have to say I was really disappointed. Didn’t understand the jokes, or if I did most of them were pretty L-A-M-E. Eminem’s and Rhianna’s performance at the beginning was pretty sweet. Usher had an awesome choreographed dance, though I was a little disappointed that is was so obvious he was lip-syncing. B.O.B. with Haley from Paramore was ok. I feel that if Haley’s singing was more to par to her recording I would have been more impressed. Now the finale. WOW. I was expecting something profound…and I suppose that is what I got. Kanye West definitely let me down. I understood he was trying to make up for last year, but it really didn’t work out. It may have gone better if he would have chosen another song like Power with Dwele or sung with Kid Cudi, but whatever it was he sung it was just horrible. I missed True Blood’s season finale for this! I don’t know about you guys but I don’t think I’ll waste time watching the VMA’s. If anything what I liked that night was the sneak peek of the new show World of Jenks. I may start becoming a loyal fan of that show, though it does overlap with Anthony Bourdain’s: No Reservation...so we’ll see.

Anyways, our show will be up in running in just a couple of weeks yay! Can’t wait to be back on air sharing music through live streaming. Until then I will continue to share through SoundCloud so enjoy!
